Porter-cable 75182 variable speed router motor

Best Price Porter Cable 75182 For Sale. Buy Now!.

Customer Buzz

This is the second Porter-Cable router I have had and they are great work horses. My only critique is that it is very loud. I use it on a CNC and it runs for an hour sometimes. I wish it could be made to be quieter.

Customer Buzz

The Porter Cable router motor took about 10 days to get here, and when I opened the box the motor was not in a Porter Cable box it was loose in a freud box and not even in a plastic bag. So some of the packing was in and around the inside of the fan motor, and also the power cord was cut by the motor moving around in the box. The second one was better but the switch and the strainrelief was not the same as the first motor. I hope the second one is a new motor.

Customer Buzz

I've been reading router review articles and web sources for some time now. I bought this model, because the PC7518 is obviously the industry standard high-power router to stick in a router table. All the accessories, router lifts, etc. come standard for this model. For me, it's too big and heavy to use in hand, so there was no reason to get (and pay for) a fixed- or plunge-base -- I just wanted the motor, and that's what the 75182 model is. Mine is going into the router table and staying there, so it's the best choice for me.

Porter-cable 363 12 amp 4-inch by 24-inch belt sander

Best Price Porter Cable 363 For Sale. Buy Now!.

Customer Buzz
I had bought the Porter Cable 4" Whisper Series Model 362 about a year ago. It is the same unit as this one, same 12 amp motor etc, but has the dust bag with it, and is variable speed. You can see the 362VS here at Amazon. For the price difference I would buy the 362VS. I had written this review, thinking that this was the model that I had, after looking at the model number on the sander, I realized it was a 362. Consequently I wrote this review first, then copy and pasted the review into the 362VS. So if you see the same review, you know why. For the sake of interest, I am letting this review stand. Here it is:<br>I previously used a 3x21" Sears. Did the job, but this PC is in a whole different category. Some of the more important features: Positive tracking-when you set the belt adjusting knob, the belt stays adjusted. Some belt sanders creep on you, and require frequent resetting. Annoying to say the least. Also the belt change feature is nice. A simple lever you pull out, then push back in. Quiet-you do not have to wear ear protection to use this. Hearing protection is always a good idea though. It is heavy, but to me this is an advantage. You don't have to push down on the unit, in order to get the job done. To those who mention that you have to keep an eye on the machine, because it can take away too much material too fast, that is because they are using a coarser grit than it required for the task. Finer grades give you more flexibility, and removal is more gradual and even. A belt sander is not designed to replace a finish sander. <br> With the larger 4" footprint, it is possible to remove a lot of material fast, without digging troughs in the work, which is possible with many belt sanders. Troughs-ridges show in the finished product. For fine finishes that are even and flat, a dedicated planer, then a finish sander, and finally a fine grade of hand sanding will give you the desired result. <br> The Porter Cable 4" is the best belt sander I have ever used. I would not hesitate to take on a floor refinishing task with this unit. If I was doing it for a living, I would of course persue a walk behind. <br> This is a no nonsense sander. Heavy duty. Lay it on the board, and hold on. Makes short of a lot of work. Feels like it will last a lifetime. Definitely a leader in the pack, and worth the money.

Porter-cable 690lrvs 11 amp 1-3/4-horsepower fixed base variable speed router

Best Price Porter Cable 690LRVS. Free Shipping. Buy Now!.

Customer Buzz
Yup. This thing has fully met my expectations. A previous reviewer suggested purchasing the clear base plate - I agree.

Customer Buzz
Great router and the variable speed is a must for using larger bits which can burn the wood if used at too high a speed. Top notch Product! Have used this model in my furniture business daily now for over three years and still going strong. Also, it is much quieter than the old dewalts and milwakees that I used for years.

Customer Buzz
I just got one of these, and it's my first PC router. When I saw how you adjust the depth of cut I thought, "You've got to be kidding." In all the pictures it looks like you turn an adjustment ring to adjust the height of the motor in the base, but that ring doesn't actually adjust anything. All adjustment is accomplished by rotating the motor in the base. The motor has four small round pins that ride in two spiral grooves in the base, so turning the motor adjusts the height. The ring just has marks denoting the height adjustment corresponding to the amount of rotation of the motor, and the ring turns so you can zero it on a mark on the motor. Here are the problems I find with this approach:

- The switch and cord change location based on the depth of the cut. Maybe I'm just weird, but I like having the switch on a power tool located in the same place every time I use it.

- The weight of the motor is enough to cause it to rotate down in the base when the locking clamp is off. This is partly because, IMO, the pitch of the groove is too steep.

- When I turn the motor in the base it makes kind of a grinding sound because the grooves in the base aren't machined very smoothly. Definitely not impressed.

- There is no "fine" adjustment mechanism. All adjustment is done by turning the motor. Another consequence of the steep pitch in the adjustment groove is that fine adjustments are tricky. Rotating the motor 180° lowers it 1". That's 2.8° for 1/64". 2.8° isn't much, and in a router I think of 1/64th of an inch as a course adjustment. When the locking clamp is off, the motor is fairly loose in the base, so this thing really doesn't give me a feeling of tight control over the height setting.

I'm kind of mystified as to why no one has commented about this adjustment mechanism. Now I know that people are referring to PC routers when they review other routers by other manufacturers and like that they don't have to rotate the motor in the other brand. I just don't know why no one has mentioned it here.

In a separate issue, I wouldn't use it without first sanding the base smooth to remove flash from when it was molded. If I didn't, it would scratch my wood as I slid the router over it. Also not impressive. I expect to be able to use something like this right out of the box without fixing it.

The reviewer who said he could hardly tell it had a soft start must have had a defective one because it's very noticeable to me. No jerking at all and much nicer in that regard than the old 1hp 1/4" router I'm replacing.

I'm sure it's very powerful, the soft start is great, and the variable speed seems nice as well, but several brands offer power, soft start, and variable speed. The height adjustment on this is just crude IMO, and that makes me think I'd get frustrated with it in actual use. So I'm going to try to find something I like better and there's a good chance this one is going to be returned.

Customer Buzz
I wanted a non-plunge router for my router table and this fit the bill. It has all the power I need and is easy to adjust from under the table. This is my first 'soft start' router and I like this feature.

Customer Buzz
I chose this one because of the favorable reviews, but it wouldn't start out of the box. I took it to the local PC distributor and they offered to exchange it. After a week, I called for status and they said it was on backorder until mid Nov. Bummer, but they did refund my money, so I'm buying another one...I'm hoping the product lives up to its reputation. This is the 2nd time I've purchased an item from Amazon where the motor did not work out of the box...the other was the motor on a Delta jointer. It took 4-6 weeks to get a new motor...tough sledding when you're trying to work on a project!
Revised 1/14/07 - I was able to buy a new router - same model. It's performed very well so far with a fair amount of use. The switch is sealed and is not very large, so it's difficult to tell if you've switched it on or off immediately. This could be a safety issue, but eventually I'd like to set up a switch that I can mount on the side of the cabinet so I don't have to reach under the table to turn it on/off. I haven't had an issues with frozen bits getting stuck in the collet and it's easy to switch between 1/2 and 1/4 shank bits. Variable speed is a nice touch to avoid burning.

Customer Buzz
I dedided to buy the PC 690LRVS instead of the Makita RF1101 because I could not center the base of the current Makita RF1101 that I own. The Makita may be a little quieter, but I use ear protection anyway. I also wanted soft start, so I didn't buy the less expensive Porter Cable router. One reviewer said the soft start was not very good on this router, compared to the larger models. He may have a bad router. My 690LRVS has the softest start of any router that I own (I own 5 routers).

Customer Buzz
I recently purchased the Porter Cable 690LRVS router to replace a store brand model I have used for several years and it has all the features I desire in a router. Most all the work I do with a router is with the router mounted to a small router table and I found the 690LRVS especially good for this use. The 1001-T2 base is an excellent design and makes bit height adjusts easy and precise. The lever lock feature and the pin guides in the base allow easy and precise adjustments with simply a quick release of the lever lock and a twist of the motor to raise or lower the bit height. (The motor diameter is just right to grasp and turn with one hand.) Even mounted upside down under the table, the bit height remains where set without having to support the motor with the hand to keep it from dropping down before re-engaging the lock, as I had to do with my old router. Even so, the router motor is easy to remove from the base if need be to use the motor in another base for off table work or for bit replacement. Athough the 690LRVS does not have a shaft lock feature, I have no problem replacing bits using the two wrenches while the motor is under my table. The opening in the base is just big enough.<p>I like the sealed rocker ON/OFF switch, rather than a toggle switch. And, the variable speed feature is great to be able to adjust the speed for different wood hardnesses and bit sizes. (My old router accepted only 1/4 bits, so its great having the 1/2 bit capability with the 690LRVS.)<p>Only adjustment I had to make for the 690LRVS was that I had to modify my router table mounting hole pattern to mount the 1001-T2 base to my store brand router table. The 1001-T2 base has a 4 inch center to center spacing for the mounting screws, whereas my router table had a 4 1/2 inch spacing.<p>Great router. Definitely 5 stars!!

Customer Buzz
I received this Porter Cable router from Amazon in hopes that it would fit in my JDS Multirouter. It won't, because of the lever's requirement to pop out to approximately 1-1/2" from the body when released.<p>BUT...<p>No big deal... I just switched bases with my old PC router, and I'm up and running. So, in case you're wondering if this motor fits the old bases, it does.<p>After that, I tried the new router, and here are my observations... First, some people complain about the switch being changed from a toggle to a rocker, but I don't mind that. Neither is particularly easy to switch on and off, but between the two, the rocker (shielded by rubber) is probably less likely to accidentally turn on if accidentally bumped by something (e.g., a cord).<p>The soft start is not the same soft start that the big PCs have. Those machines have a VERY soft start. This router's soft start is a fast one... In fact, if I hadn't known it was a soft start and hadn't A-B'd it with my other 690, I would never have noticed it being a soft start.<p>The main thing this router brings to the table is the variable speed coupled with the 1-3/4HP motor. The two together enable the use of big bits (which need to turn slower but also need more power). My big 1-3/4" cove bit (yeah... it's really that big) works a lot better at the slower speed afforded by this router. My old 690 always burned the wood a little with that bit... not this router, though.<p>The locking lever is nice... No more breaking your thumb on that tiny bolt mechanism on the 690.<p>Other than those differences, this router has one other important feature -- it still adheres to many of the industry standards set by the 690. The base plates, etc. are interchangeable, which means there are a lot of jigs and add-ons that will fit this router.<p>I highly recommend this as an all-around router... whether for table use, for freehand use, or used in a horizontal positioner like the MultiRouter (but as mentioned, in that case will require a standard base, not the lever base).<p>5 Stars!

Customer Buzz
First of all I was really impressed with tool cribs service, I recieved my router in just 4 days, which was nice because I could get started on my project right away. The 690RLVS router worked perfect, it went through red oak without a problem and the height adj. was simple to use and quick to change. I really enjoyed using this router. I give it 5 stars.

Bosch 11241evs 1-9/16-inch 11 amp sds-max combination hammer

Best Price bosch 11241EVS. Free Shipping. Buy Now!.

Customer Buzz
This Hammer drill is very powerful. Hammer-only function is great for chiseling. Excellent tool for concrete work and drilling.

Customer Buzz
So far I've used it to remove a section of patio tile, break out a 3" concrete slab and core a 3" hole through a concrete footing and all I can say is...wow! Bosch makes great tools and this one is no exception.
Great power with some fantastic features...the shock absorber added to the handle really works, much easier on the hands. Expensive, yes, but if you work with concrete you'll be glad you bought it.

Customer Buzz
I bought this hammer to remove old deck posting. The people that had done the original deck, to their wisdom, instead of using a frame mold and pouring concrete, they simply placed a bunch of bricks and rocks around the post, dug a big hole, and fill it with concrete! The slab was huge!

This tool went through it like it was butter! I was able in an hours time to break up the old post into chips, which then allowed me to easily remove the posts, and do the job right.

Very comfortable to use, and pretty straight forward. Seems to be build well, and I am sure this will last for a few years. Manual says the brushes are good for about 300-400 hours, at which point you need to send the tool back to Bosch for replacement brushes and lubrication. So if you are going to use this one a lot, take this into consideration, since shipping it I am sure will be a small fortune due to the weight.

I would definitely recommend this tool!

Customer Buzz
This is a great tool for digging through tough soil. I can dig a trench with it in no time.

One word of caution: Don't buy a big clay spade for digging with this tool because it will not be able to handle it (not enough power). I got the dewalt flat head spade and that works great (after my hitachi spade was too big to dig effectively)

This tool is comfortable to use and works good on concrete as well. I highly recommend this to anyone who does not want to hand dig anything anymore

Customer Buzz
This tool is priceless. Lightweight and easy to use. This tool saves me time and my back. The bits are easy to change. I have used this tool for trenching with the shovel attachment. What a time saver. I would highly recommend this tool.

Customer Buzz
I couldn't be happier. Bosch has never let me down--Great tool, Great Company!! I have nothing but praise for Bosch power tools. If your in the market for this tool ,look no more!

all-clad copper core 8-inch fry pan

Product Description

Up until now all-clad's excellent heat conductivity has been a result of an aluminum core. Another metal equally efficient when it comes to conducting heat is copper. all-clad now has a complete line of copper core stainless steel cookware which uses bonded 5-ply construction to achieve culinary perfection. The copper core is exposed in an attractive band around each piece, adding warmth, color, and authenticity. Unlike pans with an abundance of exposed copper, these pieces clean easily and are lined with durable food-safe stainless steel. The small fry pan is perfect for singles and couples as it can brown a couple of chicken breasts, saute enough shrimp for two and scramble eggs for Sunday brunch.

Customer Buzz
First, be careful when you unpack your pans. With each one is a Thomas Keller recipe and they are great! Try the soufflé omelet that comes with the 8" fry pan. Brunch will be permanently transformed in your house.

The real advantage of these pans is not their ability to cook eggs, steaks, lamb chops, etc but when their incredible versatility in making pan sauces. You get just the right amount of fond to provide flavor and it deglazes well with wine, stock, etc. Whether it's pepper steak or chicken cutlets, you will not only cook better with these pans, you will be able to make significantly better pan sauces with the super responsive heat control. It's easy and fast to go from a vigorous simmer to concentrate the broth and/or wine to just under simmering so you can add cream without having it separate.

One word of warning. These pans are much more responsive and require much less heat than others I have been using. Take the time to learn to use them and you will be repaid many times over. IOW, don't sweat it if you burn the first few dishes you cook with these.

Customer Buzz
Definitely expensive, but waited for a good price and jumped on it. Already owned the 10" and had to have the large one. A joy to cook in. Heats up FAST and cooks evenly. Very rugged and worth the money.

Customer Buzz
I bought this pan to replace a Revereware Aluminum bottomed 12 inch fry pan. Wow what a difference in cooking. I had always slightly burned Coconut milk at the edges of the pan while reducing it. With the All-Clad pan for the first time it cooked perfectly. This pan is excellent for cooking Thai and Indian curry.

I bought this pan when it went on sale for $126 and I now wish I had bought 2 (one for a present).

Customer Buzz
This is a wonderful piece of cooking ware, a piece of art...I love using it. V.

Customer Buzz
I'd like to give this 10 stars as I had no idea the difference a pan like this could make.

I have had it for a week and have used it for crab cakes (crab, egg, and breading), omelets, sauteed vegetables, and thick-cut pork chops. I mention these items because in my old Farberware stainless steel pans, sticking, uneven cooking, and uneven browning were a problem that I thought was just my lack of skill.

Heat distribution is perfect all over, i.e., the items on the outside cook the same in the same amount of time as those on the inside. Browning is effortless and beautiful! The fond on the bottom of the pan is not burned and deglazing is a breeze. Since I could only afford the one pan so far, I sometimes cook alongside my other pans. It's like switching from driving a Ford Pinto to a Mercedes (or so I imagine) and back again.

Cleanup has been great! So far I haven't had any problems with stuck food - the delicate crab cakes held together when I flipped them (with a gorgeous golden crust), and the omelets released easily. I used just enough butter and oil to cover the bottom of the pan, and it got hot enough to cook the food in the right amount of time to keep the food from absorbing too much oil and tasting greasy, without getting so hot that it scorched or stuck.

The pan is definitely heavier than what I'm used to, but the balance is perfect and handling it is not a problem. The handle stays very cool, surprisingly so...it has barely even gotten warm. Finally, the icing on the cake is how absolutely beautiful this pan is. It is definitely a display piece. I can only afford two items in this line per year, but my collection is started and there is NO going back.

If you really love the process and adventure of cooking, this is an investment you will never regret!!!

Customer Buzz
My wife and I bought this pan and its 12" brother at the same time as our first All-Clad purchase. It was the start to a beautiful thing. We liked these two so much we add a new All-Clad to our collection ever other month or so. Though with entertaining and feeding a family of four we use the 12" pan more, due to its capacity, this is by far my favorite pan.

As with all of the All-Clad pans this pan is a bit heavy but worth it. It is light enough for me to attempt to flip foods like the real chefs do. With a bit of preheating and some oil or butter nothing seems to stick to this pan.

I have had one thing stick to this pan. Egglands Best low saturated fat eggs. With a bit of butter or cooking spray regular eggs slid out as if they where on supper Teflon, but not Egglands Best. This should not dissuade you from getting this pan, it is just something that we have noticed.

If this is your first All-Clad piece read the instructions, watch a few food shows. We destroyed a few courses in these pan prior to figuring it out with the help of the afore mentioned resources.

Customer Buzz
First let me start by saying if you are used to cookware you can pickup at a lower end store, like I was, you will find all of All-Clad's copper core line to be heavy. That being said I will never buy another piece of cookware from a low end store thanks to this pan (and the 10" one I got at the same time).

This pan sees use in about 80% of our home cooked meals. It's generous size and control make fixing a meal for a family of four with two teenage boys easier and more predictable. We are by no means chefs but this pan has allowed us to explore some very fun things in the kitchen. Searing. Sweating. Reductions. Lots of fun cooking options.

If this is your first All-Clad piece read the instructions, watch a few food shows. We destroyed a few courses in this pan prior to figuring it out with the help of the afore mentioned resources.

Customer Buzz
Over the years I have used a variety of cookware--aluminum bottomed stainless Revere Ware, Magnalite Professional, Calphalon, Calphalon Professional NonStick. When I finally had to throw out the last of my tattered collection, I started to look for some stainless cookware that would stand the test of time and offer performance to boot. I decided to splurge on this All-Clad Copper Core.

One of the pieces I recieved was this 10" Fry Pan...

Delighted to report that I am THRILLED with this expensive splurge! All-Clad is NOT about expensive hype and status, those these pans are beautifully made, instead they do everything cookware should, and have literally changed the way I cook. Having attended CIA and worked as a professional chef for a few years, I know the golden rule for food not sticking: preheat pan, add oil, let oil heat for 5-10 seconds, then add food. Using these guidelines with the Copper Core, nothing sticks! And I mean for some things, like omelets or fried eggs in the 10" frypan, the performance is as good as my brand new Calphalon NonStick was; when you can just slide omelets and fried eggs out of the pan without ANY sticking at all, why would you ever need Nonstick or Teflon based products?!

However, these pans are also superbly capable of developing a fond on the pan bottom for deglazing and subsequent sauces; in fact I have had them give every last bit of the fond up when deglazed, almost cleaning the pan for me! That's the best thing about them--they do everything right. I am not sure if it's All-Clad propriety stainless "recipe" or what, but these pans are so amazing to be able to function on all levels from eggs sliding out with ZILCH sticking to chicken breasts sticking just enough to develop rich fond for complete deglazing, to the light and glazy fond from sauteed onions and garlic for developing a richer risotto when deglazed with wine.

Mind you, this is partly about knowing some basic cooking principles, and these pans might not act so obligingly in non experienced hands, because when I read about people commenting on how everything sticks in their All-Clad stainless interior, I know it isn't All-Clad's fault, believe me!

I have found the copper core very responsive and quick to adjust to temperature. Perhaps not as great as true copper pot and pans, but noticeably better than aluminum cores (Stainless line) or anodized aluminum (Magnalite Pro/Calphalon). These pans heat up and boil water faster than anything I have ever used, aside from true copper cookware, and when turning the heat down, or removing from burner, they also cool incredibly quickly. It's nice to have semi-copper performance with the ease of stainless steel clean-up. And this cookware does clean-up quickly and easily, particularly when using Barkeepers Friend. I use plastic and wooden utensils (no metal) and they still look almost brand new after several months.

The copper band however does tarnish and discolor just as much and just as fast as a true copper pot or pan, so if you are fanatic, you will need to polish the tarnish away fairly often (at least every other week). However this is barely noticeable for us real world users, and Barkeepers friend does a good job of semi-polishing the copper (but it won't gleam).

I know, I know, they are SO expensive. But honestly, if you know how to cook or want to learn with responsive cookware, I honestly feel this is a great investment. I am wholeheartedly thrilled that I made it and cannot recommend highly enough.

We received this pan for about $200 as a gift and it is lovely. We haven't had any diffulty with food sticking to it (we haven't used it with eggs yet - fyi). As they instruct, you must use a low heat. My husband put it too high and the food started to burn. But if you use low heat, heat the pan first and then add a tiny bit of oil to coat the bottom of the pan, allow that to heat and then add your food, your food should not get stuck.

On a side note, after spending so much, it's hard not to want clean the pan to it's original mint condition and to do that, use Barkeepers Friend after every use. That gets a bit tedious when you have lots of toddlers running around. I have twins and while we soak the pan in hot soapy water and hand wash it, I leave the soapy water in it until I can use the barkeepers friend. If you have lots of time, it won't be any trouble, but if you have your hands full with little ones, you might want to wait until they get older before spending the money on this line or it's just one more thing to do.

I gave it 4 stars due to the extra work, but the pan itself is marvelous and would get a 5 star rating for its cooking ability. It leaves chicken juicey, rather than dried and leathery. Very nice!
